Santiago del Teide celebrates World Tourism Day by showcasing the quality of its local products alongside Volcanic Xperience

Every 27 September marks World Tourism Day, a key date that provides an opportunity to reflect on how tourism contributes to sustainable destination development and job creation, as well as highlighting the richness of the world’s diverse cultures and landscapes.

In Santiago del Teide this day goes one step further, as it not only celebrates the value of tourism, but also puts the spotlight on all those people who make it possible. Therefore, to express their gratitude to four couples who, for decades, have faithfully chosen the municipality as their main holiday destination, they were presented with a gift. This was made up of certain items describing the identity of the municipality: its local products and crafts.

A ceramic pot made using traditional aboriginal pottery techniques of the municipality, and a box of almonds, a symbolic product of Santiago del Teide, provided by GMR Canarias through the Volcanic Xperience brand.

And so it was for the tourists of German origin, Mr. Bruno Thüring and Mrs. Sylvia Kretschmer, who are staying at the Barceló Santiago hotel; for Mr. Simon Hornshaw and Mr. Jean Hornshaw, who are staying at the Landmar Playa Arena hotel, of British origin; for the also British, Mr. Roger Jones and Mrs. Linda Jones, who are staying at the TUI BLUE Los Gigantes hotel; and for the national tourists, of Catalan origin, Jordi Verges and Mata González, who are staying at the TUI BLUE Los Gigantes hotel. Roger Jones and Linda Jones, who are staying at the hotel TUI BLUE Los Gigantes; and for the national tourists, of Catalan origin, Jordi Verges and Mata González, staying at the Hotel Landmar Los Gigantes.

The aim was not only to thank these tourists for their loyalty, but also to promote and disseminate the local culture and products that set Santiago del Teide apart from other destinations.
