Ireland at the Tasting Lanzarote Festival: a gastronomic journey from the Atlantic to the island of volcanoes

The 11th edition of the Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival consolidated its prestige as one of the most important culinary events in the Canary Islands and the Mid-Atlantic. In this edition, the festival’s guest country was Ireland, which was presented by two renowned restaurants: SAGE, from Cork, and KING SITRIC, from Howth. Their chefs, Kevin Aherne and Daniel Luszcz from SAGE, together with Declan McManus and Joseph Harding from KING SITRIC, brought to Lanzarote a vibrant sample of Irish gastronomy, fusing tradition and modernity.

Ireland’s participation brought to the festival a gastronomic proposal focused on respect for fresh ingredients and seasonal products, characteristics that define contemporary Irish cuisine. From the Atlantic coast, the chefs offered unique culinary experiences, combining traditional techniques with innovative proposals that aroused the interest of the audience.

SAGE, known for its focus on the farm-to-table concept, presented dishes where fresh produce was the real protagonist. The restaurant has stood out in the Irish culinary scene for its dedication to sustainability and environmentally conscious cuisine.

For its part, KING SITRIC, with over 50 years of history in Howth, is a benchmark in the preparation of fresh fish and seafood, caught on the Irish coast. Their chefs offered an exceptional display of seafood dishes combining tradition and creativity.

Ireland’s presence at Saborea Lanzarote was not only a culinary experience, but also a cultural exchange. The Irish chefs shared their vision of sustainable cuisine and respect for the origin of the ingredients, values that fully coincide with the philosophy of the festival and the sustainability strategy that Lanzarote promotes at a gastronomic and tourist level.

The exchange between Atlantic cuisines was one of the great attractions of the festival, strengthening the cultural connection between Ireland and Lanzarote. The participation of these Irish chefs left a deep impression, showing that gastronomy is a universal language that unites territories through flavour, creativity and respect for local produce.
